Groshan Fabiola asked:

e considering a vacation in South America, there is no doubt that Brazil should be at the top of your travel destination list. This South American country has become an attractive destination for tourists of all ages. It is particularly interesting for those who want to experience a different kind of climate, as well as a new and exciting culture.

The choice of city or region in Brazil that you will be spending your vacation in is totally up to. If you are not particularly interested in manic metropolises as destinations for your Brazilian escapade, you might find the information in this article quite useful.

When asked about Brazil, the first thing that comes to people’s minds is probably the worldwide renowned Rio de Janeiro carnival. The fascinating Sao Paolo is also the choice of many Brazil explorers. However, there are many other cities and regions to see in Brazil, some of which are a lot more interesting than the two big cities mentioned above. In the end, it is a matter of personal taste. If you are looking forward to a relaxing and peaceful vacation, you should definitely consider Belo Horizonte.

Belo Horizonte is the one city in Brazil where you can have the perfect holiday, that is, a combination of sightseeing, cultural activities, partying, nightlife, shopping and entertainment. You should know that Belo Horizonte tourism is not an important segment of the city’s economy. However, this does not mean that you won’t be able to find any excellent hotels or exquisite restaurants. In fact, there are plenty of them! The absence of a highly developed Belo Horizonte tourism system means that the authorities are not trying to attract as many tourists as possible. As a result, you can rest assured that you will not be crowding with thousands of other tourists to visit certain monuments and museums or to buy souvenirs. I’d say this is an essential ingredient of the perfect vacation.

If you have you mind set on spending your vacation, or part of it, in this South American city, it is best that you get some information prior to arriving there. It is not necessarily a matter of avoiding unpleasant situations, because we are talking about a sophisticated metropolis whose people are extremely friendly and welcoming. However, Belo Horizonte travel information will prove very useful in terms of becoming familiar with the city and not missing out on any exciting and interesting activities that take place in the city. Belo Horizonte travel information is available online from a variety of sources. It is also advisable that you read the honest testimonials of people who have spent some time in this city, and learn from their experiences.

Belo Horizonte travel information is extremely useful for a well-planned vacation. What could be more useful than inside tips on all the major attractions of Belo Horizonte, as well as on restaurants, hotels, shopping centers, cultural activities, etc. All these, and a whole lot more interesting and useful information is easily accessible online.

Steppes Travel asked:

Don’t judge a book by its cover, as the saying goes, and if Brazil were a book its cover would surely feature the city of Rio de Janeiro and girls dressed in feathered carnival costumes. However Brazil is far more diverse than just the beautiful city of Rio on which its reputation is built. There is, literally, something for everyone here and often on a mighty scale. The colossal Amazon rainforest is a nature-lovers paradise and the largest tropical forest in the world, the central western savannah area is home to the Pantanal, the largest wetland area in the world and the best area for wildlife viewing while Brazil also boasts 4,300 miles of white sandy beaches fringed with palm trees. As you can gather, it excels at more than just football.

My recent trip was to take me to historical Salvador, a vibrant city, alive and kicking with the strong influence of its African heritage. On a Tuesday night the colonial quarter, with its cobbled streets, pulsates to a rhythmic drum beat from street bands set up to play while the locals come out to eat, drink and dance. You get the feeling this is not just for visitors, this is a party for no other reason than it’s a Tuesday. During the day things are slightly quieter and you get time to wander and admire the beautiful colonial churches and colourful buildings. Most have been lovingly restored and are now museums, shops or small boutique hotels interspersed with restaurants serving an intriguing blend of African and Brazilian cuisine, with ingredients such as coconut, ginger, hot peppers, coriander and fish.

I was also lucky enough to take a private flight to the Kiaroa eco-resort. This is a small property 30 minutes south of Salvador by plane on the end of the Marau peninsula. The flight itself is a scenic adventure, passing along the lush southern coast of Bahia we landed on a private strip 50 yards from the hotel reception. Although it is a 5 star resort, with all the facilities you would expect, if feels quiet and relaxed, especially after the hustle and bustle of Salvador. Of the 28 rooms, most are bungalows with their own private plunge pools, set amongst exquisite tropical gardens. The property overlooks a long sandy beach, almost private in its emptiness, and being on a peninsular, you get the benefit of both sunrise and sunset, a double treat everyday.

Back to Salvador and I then headed north on the Coconut highway. A lovely 90 minute drive along empty beaches and palm trees, I arrived at the sleepy fishing village of Praia do Forte. Instantly my pulse slowed as I slipped into the local way of life. Praia do Forte is a pretty coastal village home to the hugely successful Tamar Turtle Reserve which was started in 1980 to save Brazil’s five species of sea turtle from extinction.

My trip ended in my most favourite city in the world - Rio. Fun, lively and with a naturally amazing setting, the buildings squeeze into the space between golden beaches and bays and the tropical escarpment, dripping with vegetation.

Ilizabeth Sutera asked:

I would usually put this one last - but it is so good, I have to make sure all eyes see it. If anyone has tried to travel over the holidays, you know the prices can double/triple during our days off! However, Funjet is offering flights from $199, yes $199 roundtrip to the Caribbean during the Holiday season - and that is just the beginning of these amazing deals. Yes, I’m a total Caribbean bum. The warm salty air, the miles and miles of sand that give way to some of the most gorgeous turquoise water anywhere is enough motivation than I need. That image coupled with the fact that its now cheaper then ever before to go, makes the Caribbean the bonus destination this week! Fly into the Caribbean and stay for 3 nights during this Holiday Sale for $429 and you save $570 per person! You say you want added value? Alright, how about bring the kiddies along and they will stay, play and eat free! You have to love the Holidays!

Now that I got the holiday excitement out of the way, here are the best deals and destinations of the week!

Hawaii.  Although this might sound like an automatic for most people, it must fall on any list of places to go. Comprised of hundreds of islands spread over 1500 miles, the state of Hawaii has been a sod after spot for families, honeymooners and everyone else looking to enjoy its acclimate weather and its lush beaches, not to mention their bewildering gold, red, green and black sands. With breast cancer awareness month upon us, you can battle two issues with one preverbal stone.  You can visit the amazing island of Oahu for 5 nights including air for $939, while helping out a very important cause.  The “Travel Pink, Travel Oahu” makes donations to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure.  Travel during this time will save you close to $200; as oppose to traveling there during the high season.

Australia. Fall asleep on the plan and wake up in this beautiful and diverse English speaking country With its over 2.9 million square miles of land, this country is filled with history, underwater treasures and, for the nature lover, some of the most amazing creatures to ever roam the wild. If you’re a wine lover, or one that occasionally enjoys a nice glass, Australia, with its average temperature of 67F (19C), has some of the world’s best Chardonnay. Take a journey through the extraordinary history and architecture of the Iconic Sydney Opera House. With dimensions of 605 feet long and about 388 feet wide, this UNESCO World Heritage Site has held some of the most sought after venues in the world. Constructed in 3 stages, this structure holds 5 different venues that make up the main performance facilities; The Concert Hall, The Opera Theatre, The Drama Theatre, The Playhouse and the Studio. If Australia is your idea of a true getaway, and with all there is to experience you are not alone, then take advantage of this terrific offer. Air and a 6 night stay, with a tour of this amazing attraction is yours for $1999. This rate is for travel from Los Angeles, usually with advertising if you are traveling from any where but the place they give you the price for, the price goes way up - but in this case, the reason this deal is so amazing and much more affordable than in the past, is because there is only a $150 flight add-on regardless of where your origin in the United States!

Affordable Cruising w/ Low Deposits. With the dollar these days, a lot of our dreams of visiting exotic destinations like Europe/South America/Alaska may be put off for years later, “when things get better”. However, the cruise lines are very aware of our economic situation and are making our way around the Globe more affordable. Princess Cruises, one of the most respected names in the Cruise industry has is offering rates as low as $146/nt. Pick a place on the globe, Denmark, Italy, Mexico, Brazil, Alaska and my personal favorite St. Petersburg, Russia are all well within your reach. Princess is offering a worldwide sale including coupon booklets for the cruise that will certainly save you money on board. The best part is if you want to plan ahead and reserve the space for 2009 plus take advantage of the deep discounts now, you only have to give a $100 deposit. If you have not cruised before, I can tell you the deposits are usually much higher! Plus they guarantee these low prices - so you don’t have to think that the price may get lower later. Many of the sailings are offering cabin upgrades and other amenities. A new look at an old way of spending your vacation is what you might be looking for, and Princess Cruises makes your search a little less congested.

Jamaica. As Jack Frost is getting ready to nip on your nose, what better way to fight back then heading to the Caribbean? The need for Hot Chocolate as an anti-freeze is absolutely not needed here; and proper footwear while on the beach is no required. I have been to Jamaica six times- I guess I like it there. Lately, I hear some negative talk, fear in some cities - however these are not the places the tourists frequent and the myths should be squashed. Jamaica has some of the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen, and truly gives you that “island, I am way from it all” feeling. Jamaica is known for its all inclusives, where you never have to leave the resort except for a dip in the ocean and perhaps an excursion to hear some reggae. The deals to Jamaica - especially these all inclusive resorts are outstanding. One deal I found with Air Jamaica Vacations is with The Holiday Inn SunSpree Resort. Relax to the sounds of Calypso music for 3 magical nights at the All-Inclusive Montego Bay resort. That’s right; everything is included for your vacation. Not convinced yet of this great deal…well, how about round trip airfare, two checked bags free (can you believe that they are charging to your luggage!), transfers and use of land and water sports and entertainment. Also, flying Air Jamaica has been one of the best airline experiences I have ever had. Got kids? Bring them along with you. Not only do you save up to a whopping 60% off, your kids get to stay free! I’m sure that Mr. Frost will be waiting for you when you get back, but nothing like prolonging the inevitable!

Fiji.  Yes the South Pacific has been on my table of places to go for quite some time now. I have found deals to this side of the world, I never thought could exist. Go to sleep on the plane - wake up in paradise. The Republic of the Fiji Islands is an island nation in the South Pacific.  East of Vanuatu, west of Tonga and Tuvalu to the south, it occupies about 322 islands.  One spot in Fiji that I have paid close attention too is Nadi.  The third largest conurbation in Fiji, it is located on the western side of the main island. The scuba, snorkeling is outstanding — the color of the water is like no other, and the culture, interesting and colorful - yes, you are really on the other side of the world. You can take ferries to the Mamanuca Group of islands along with experiencing the mud-flat beaches.  Other exciting sites to take in are the Waqadra Botanical Gardens and the Sleeping Giant Gardens, which house Raymond Burr’s magnificent orchid collection.  If Europe and Hawaii have become the everyday talk as to where your vacation travels will lead you, this might be a nice change; and with prices starting at $999 per person including air to Nadi, you can start telling your friends “I’m finally going to the South Pacific!”

Lisa Parker asked:

Traveling is spiritually rewarding and always educational; however choosing where to travel and what to do is often frustrating and time consuming. When you are a solo traveler, this task may be hard or easier than if you were traveling with others. When traveling with others, there are suggestions and desires that you may or may like. When traveling alone, all decisions are yours to make and this can lead to a relaxing trip. Here is a list of the top ten solo adventures to help you choose the right vacation.

Europe

Regardless of where you have grown up, you may have heard at least some stories about Europe, and true or not, they would have stimulated your imagination. In reality, Europe has an incredible and intricate infrastructure, making travelling across this great continent much easier. Countries, which lie side-by-side, are all highly individual places, with a rich store of history and culture to explore. Europe has so much to offer that this list would not do it justice if it did not cover some of the essentials.

Amsterdam

Amsterdam is the capital of the Netherlands, and there are many excellent museums and cultural locations to visit here. Some of the main attractions in this city are the canals, Van Gough Museum and you can even visit Ann Frank’s house. Regardless of what you are looking to experience, you can find it with a vacation to Amsterdam.

Athens

Some may think that Athens is a place for those who enjoy visiting historical locations such as the ancient landmarks that many history books mention. It is also a must-see destination regardless of your age, or your interest in history. No matter how old you are or what you most enjoy, Athens is a place that can leave you inspired and amazed at its ancient grandeur.

Ibiza

Ibiza is located in the Balearic Islands and it is well known for its nightlife. If you are looking for a vacation resort that is well known for its parties, this is the location for you.

Paris

Paris cannot be missed! It can be expensive for a solo traveler, and some may find it mildly depressing due to its reputation as a city for lovers. In reality, though it is the city of love, passion and romance. If there is anywhere to fall in love, it would be in Paris. Others attractions in the city of Paris is the breath taking iconic monuments and architecture, try on some of the world’s hottest fashion, and the fine food the city is renowned for the world over or you can visit the Louvre.

New York

The Big Apple is considered the city that never sleeps. Everyone has heard of these names, seen the “I love NY” t-shirts, and everyone should go there at least once. If you are traveling solo, then this is a great destination because of the clubs, great food, a great vibe and a place where everything and everyone is always on the go.

Thailand

The weather is hot and humid, the food is exotic and the locals are very friendly. A vacation to Thailand is very reasonably priced and the beaches are beautiful with clear oceans, tiny islands to explore and millions of people who are also seeking an adventure.

South Africa

Africa has some of the most majestic and surreal landscapes one could imagine, it has culture that is not seen anywhere else, and people who are warmer and more welcoming than you can meet in any other place. Perhaps the best place to start experiencing all of this is South Africa. South Africa has the infrastructure of many first world countries, making traveling somewhat easier. It has some of the most highly rated beaches in the world, as well as spectacular scenery in places such as Table Mountain and Kruger national park.

Serengeti

More to the point, the Ngoro Ngoro Crater Conservation Area, the essence of Africa! During the migration season from July to October the wildlife spectacle is beyond words and it provides an experience that you can remember for many years to come.

Brazil

Brazil shines if you are keen dancer as the nightlife is buzzing with Salsa, Mamba and the Rumba. If you are not a great dancer, then this is the best place for some cheap dance lessons! Brazil is an exciting, sensual place, but be on your guard at all times, just as you would when traveling in any new location.

There are many great locations to travel on a solo vacation but it mostly comes down to what you are looking to experience. Many great choices range from big cities to secluded beaches in the Caribbean. If you are looking to travel for the cultural experience or the nightlife, you should consider checking out these locations.

Robert Toth asked:

A word of advice: there is no such thing as paranoia while traveling !Crucial during travel is the possession of a passport and visa or permit to visit the country which should have at least a six month validity just to be on the safe side.

New Zealand has strict visa schemes (most recently a woman was denied a resident’s visa because the government felt her obesity would ‘put a strain on the country’s resources’) However, there are a number of countries the residents of which do not require a visa permit to travel or stay in Kiwi land for a period of three months or less as long as they have valid passports. Some of those countries are France, Brazil, Ireland, Greece, Belgium, Chile, Mexico, Argentina, and Malaysia etc.

Keeping copies of all documents ready in case the originals are misplaced or stolen is a necessary precaution. Inform a relative or friend to be ready to fax or e-mail you copies of any documents necessary in case the situation arises. Traveler’s insurance is a must and can be claimed in case any luggage is lost or stolen. As a side note there is no need to worry about snakebite kits, as the country has no snakes!

People wishing to travel the length and breadth of the country are well advised to backpack across it and stay at the simple yet affordable youth hostels of the International Youth Hostel Federation located in most areas (and can be booked via the Internet). Rent a caravan or other inexpensive vehicle to drive across if walking won’t suit you (though be warned that the cost of petrol does add up) since looking to public transport to travel everywhere will cause quick cash outflow.

There are beaureaux de change and foreign exchange kiosks in most places. Major credit cards and traveler’s checks are accepted across the country so carrying cash isn’t necessary. For students the possession of an international student I card will get you discounts on entry fees at a large number of museums, theatres, movies etc.

Eating well especially if you’re on an adventure holiday or backpacking is recommended but having every meal at a restaurant is not .It will cost approximately$25-$45 a head per meal. Preparing your own food is the best option. Youth hostels generally allow guests to cook for themselves in their kitchens. Shop for necessities at small local shops, not big department stores where rates are higher. In case there isn’t a kitchen to cook your own meals in the vicinity buying snacks off roadside vendors is another good way to eat well within a budget while experiencing local flavor. The country is very clean and any such food is reasonably hygienic. Avoid expenditure on alcohol, Internet, camera film etc as it adds up substantially.

Summertime is the busiest and most expensive. It’s smarter to visit during the off seasons. The climate is cool so carrying warm clothes (but not too many) is a good idea. Remember, while traveling packing light is the golden rule especially if backpacking or any kind of walking is on the agenda. Heavy trunks and suitcases full of unnecessary accessories are not the way to go. Do not carry pair upon pair of shoes. Wear a sturdy pair and your feet (and back!) will thank you.

The formal name for the country Paraguay is Republic of Paraguay. In short the country is called Paraguay by the citizens Paraguayans. The capital of Paraguay is Asuncion and the major cities of Paraguay include Ciudad Del Este, San Lorenzo, Luque, Capiata and Lambare. The country Paraguay attained independence by securing freedom from Spain during the year May 18, 1811. The country Paraguay celebrates Independence Day on May 15.

Uruguay is situated near Paraguay and Paraguay has lot of tourist spots and places. The following points reveal the importance of holidaying in Paraguay. The border of Ciudad Del Este is an important tourist spot in Paraguay. Ciudad Del Este could be visited from Misiones by a thirty minute drive. Passports of visitors are stamped on arrival to this country. The border place reveals the history of Paraguay in the olden days and saved the country from the wars and innovations against the enemy countries during the olden times.

Another important place of interest is the 300 year old Jesuit settlement near the town Trinidad. This place is considered of historical importance because of the ancient buildings and it is considered as a monument in Paraguay. Paraguay is a place for cheap souvenirs and foods and there are good tourist buildings. Paraguay has a population of Canadian Mennonites and they are settled in the North of Paraguay.

The third important reason for holidaying in Paraguay is to visit the biggest dams in the world which were built in 1984. The construction of the dam project was shared between Paraguay and Brazil for production of power for both the countries. Paraguay produces 90% of electricity and this country is considered as the green way of deriving energy. The construction of the dam involved deforestation and thousands of people moved out of their houses. The dam is strengthened with the water of Iguazu falls.

The next important holiday spot is the Central Circuit. It is considered as the most popular tourist spot and is located 125 miles from the capital of Paraguay. The churches here were constructed during 1775 and are of historic importance. This place is also famous for the place of worship, the Virgin of Miracles. Surrounded by beaches and lake shores it has become a popular camping spot for tourists on their summer vacations.

The final place for holidaying in Paraguay is the Chaco. It is situated on the border with Argentina and Brazil. The famous Iguazu falls is considered as a famous tourist attraction.

Holidaying in Paraguay provides fun and enjoyment and this place has lots more to offer. The exploration of Paraguay is difficult, due to the lack of tourism travelling charges can be expensive.

Anna Stenning asked:

My favourite past-time during the summer holiday is to go for mountain bike holidays, either camping locally where there is a designated spot for bikers, or actually travelling abroad to try out the trails at an exotic location. Holidays like this one keep you active throughout your time out, as well as give you the opportunity to stay active and fit. Furthermore, one can enjoy the beautiful scenery, whilst climbing up the mountain trails.

People who are new to mountain biking, will feel a little overwhelmed by the amount of hills that they are likely to come across when going to a specific location. Morzine in France is known for its bumpy trails, challenging slopes and endless riding, making it more suitable for people who have more experience with difficult trails. This offers a variety of trails, to which some beginners maybe able to appreciate the single track flatland trails.

Morzine is not only well known for its mountain bike holidays, but also for their daring ski slopes and skiing resorts. During the summer this makes an ideal spot for some sporting biking trails. Local villagers are friendly enough to direct you to some of unknown trails, which could be a new challenge for expert bikers looking for more downhill experiences. Morzine is certainly not for the faint hearted and ideal for people looking for biking all day every day.

Another great place for mountain biking is Spain. The trails of Spain offer great riding experiences, including mountain trails by the coast, long cross country road biking and of course no mountain biking holiday is complete without the challenging forest trails where one can practise their jumps. The Costa Le Luz is not a known part of the Andalusia, offering plenty of unspoilt coastline and sunshine. This makes a good taster trip for beginners especially, as they are able to try some mountain trails, which extend further for miles, however, are not so frightening in terms of being steep.

However, if money is tight for you, then taking a weekend break in the UK is probably your next best plan for a good mountain biking adventure. The UK has plenty of short mountain peaks, forest trails and flatland cross country routes to keep you busy during the weekend. Wales, Afan and the Lake District are two of the most popular bike trails, both good for camping and short tuition days. Beginners can be rest assured that the tutors will go through the trails and give you a tour guide of the area, also challenge you a bit further by introducing you to uphill and downhill trails.

Experienced bikers will benefit from the forest trails, with small mounds for jump biking, steep winding single tracks and miles of cross country riding.

Mountain bike holidays are all about honing your skills and enjoying the scenery around you, as well as reaching that goal of either climbing the top peak of the mountain or finishing off your cross country trail. For those looking for a real challenge then perhaps one of the most exciting and thrilling adventure would be further out towards Peru, Ecuador or Brazil. Choose from the single track of Peru or the trails of Chapada Diamantina national park in Brazil; or perhaps you could try biking through the quaint villages and the Andean Highlands of Ecuador.

The great thing about a holiday in Brazil, Peru or Ecuador is that you gain much more satisfaction from learning about the culture, experiencing the life with the locals, experience the natural tropics and taking in the amazing scenery when biking by the mountains.

The best mountain biking holiday would require one to travel further afield into Africa, where beginners through to professionals can sample the everlasting long roads, winding single track mountain routes or ride along through the village on the flatland road surface. One of the most incredible adventures lies in Malawi, whereby bikers can enjoy Africa’s Great Rift Valley boasting towering mountains, lush scenery and clear lakes to suit the budding explorer.

Much of the culture, vibrancy and fun trails are situated up north of Malawi, so bikers can try out the shores of Lake Malawi, ride past the sandy beach, ride by the fishing community and even ride through the inland forest.

Brazil Travel and Holidays
Nicholas Marr asked:

Overseas property investors have seen the potential of Brazilian real estate and savvy investors are in search of new areas in Brazil ripe for investment. One such area is Touros Brazil.

Brazil Property is the talk of the town with leading financiers ranking Brazil amongst the top 5 world economies by the year 2050. As one world largest countries, with a current population of over 180 million, Brazil s economic potential is enormous. The optimism is based on current availability of cheap labour and materials, coupled with undervalued real estate.

The village of Touros in the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Norto is seeing some new development that will make it a prime location for international real estate investors. Located about 70 kilometers north of the city of Natal, this town is quickly becoming a destination for travelers and home buyers looking for pristine beachfront property in Brazil.

Touros is distinctive with clean and tidy the streets and a well kept town. Travelers call Touros ‘the real Brazil’ The town benefits from a Diving Centre, Aqua Park and Quad-Biking centres several Golf Courses currently under construction. The road from Natal to Touros is a straight road called the BR101, which runs from Touros down to Rio.

The weather in this part of the country is warm and dry. Rio Grande do Norto is located in the Southern Hemisphere, so the nicest months to be here are during the north’s winter, which makes it an excellent choice for a holiday or second home. Even during the winter months of July and August, temperatures still average around 24
