Travel to Brazil

I’m a 20 year old pretty female who wants to travel alone to Brazil and wondering if this is safe. Are there places that anyone would suggest that are more safe than others? I’m becoming very discouraged when everyone that I talk to says that it’s incredibly dangerous and I would be crazy to go alone.

I purchased a book and done a lot of reading online in regards to traveling to Brazil this December for the holidays. Everywhere I looked it’s telling me to that the crime rate is very high in Brazil. I would like to get some feedback from people who traveled there and let me know just what to expect as far as being safe during my travels.
